Green area for village mooted

21/01/2020 @ 12:20

A community council will be considering a proposal tonight to create a green area in the heart of the village.

Trewern councillor, Amanda Jenner (pictured), said the idea will be discussed to create a community garden/wildlife area near the school.

The area being earmarked is an overgrown patch of land in front of the school, near to where the teachers park which could be extended too if the plans move forward.

“The school, the community centre and the community council are all OK with seeing if this is possible but in order for this to happen a few things will need to happen,” said Cllr Jenner.

“The main thing is that we need to make sure that the community will help us with this project and that there will be volunteers to get it going, and then the community will need to take this on.

“There may be some grants we can apply for but we need to make sure that the garden will be used, respected and maintained.

“There will also need to be some research on what formal things we need, for example a voluntary group set up so there can be insurance etc.”
