Organisers of one of the biggest local festivals this summer have decided to postpone the start of ticket sales due to concerns over the potential spread of the Coronavirus.
Tickets were due to go on sale for the Monty Lit Fest 2020 but despite the small number of current reported British infections, the decision has been made to be cautious, monitor the situation and delay until next month.
“Like the organisers of other public events scheduled for the coming months, the team at Monty Lit Fest is having to take stock of the changing situation around Coronovirus,” a statement reads. “Our intention is that we will run the Festival, as planned, over the weekend of June 12-14. However, we also need some contingency plans.
“In the current circumstances, we’ve taken the reluctant decision to delay the launch of ticket sales until April 3, when we hope to have a clearer picture, and to announce then that it’s full steam ahead. Please keep the dates in your diaries and look out for more news from us in a few weeks’ time.”
The event is set to take place in Montgomery with a fine line-up of authors confirmed.
