Three arrested after C&P robbery

16/05/2011 @ 04:33

Police have arrested three men who stole metal from Welshpool company Carpenter & Paterson and sold it on to a scrap yard.

The men have been bailed to appear in court following the incident which also resulted in the vehicle used to transport the goods being seized.

A police spokesperson told mywelshpool that the theft was reported by members of the public not connected with the crime, bringing praise from the local force for their support.

“This isn’t the first time that a vehicle has been seized under this legislation,” said the spokesperson. “This was the second theft of metal within a week by the same alleged vehicle and driver. Hopefully this seizure will send a message to would-be thieves that we are not a soft touch and that when caught, we will consider seizing your vehicle and request that the court makes a forfeiture order against it.”

The three unnamed men, described as not being local, will appear at Welshpool Magistrates Court on May 31.
