Welshpool Police’s tough stance on drugs led to the arrest of a man caught with 30g of cannabis at Oldford. He will appear before Welshpool Magistrates Court on June 7.
It follows a no-nonsense approach from the local force to clamp down on any drug problems reported, although they insist the town’s problem is not serious.
Sergeant Brown of Welshpool police said: “We will not tolerate drugs misuse whatsoever and encourage members of our communities to report their suspicions to us so that we can deal with individuals and groups rapidly and effectively.
“We don't have a major drugs problem in the area, but there are a minority of people who will continue to use drugs in their everyday life, this can have an impact on crime and anti social behaviour in the area.”
All problems can be reported on the Dyfed-Powys non-emergency number of 101 or via e-mail at welshpooltownnpt@dyfed- powys.pnn.police.uk.
