Paramedic’s plea to local cyclists

28/04/2020 @ 01:10

A local paramedic has appealed to cyclists to take more care when out and about for their daily exercise during the Government-enforced restrictions.

There has been a visible increase locally in the numbers of two-wheelers pedalling our roads for their daily blow-out, but one paramedic has said there is a disturbing trend developing.

“We’re noticing far more on the roads not wearing protective gear, including helmets,” the Welshpool paramedic, who asked not to be named, told us.

“There’s clearly an increased amount of cyclists on main roads at the moment without any protective gear. This is particularly concerning for their safety as well as taking into account the increased demand on all emergency services at the moment."

Cyclists are permitted to exercise once a day at the moment providing they don’t travel more than 10 miles from their homes.
