The company responsible for the Rhallt Care Home said that it has no concerns over staffing levels and is asking all new admissions to self-isolate for 14 days.
The Welshpool facility has sadly reported several deaths of residents with Coronavirus during April, and the company in charge, Barchester, has introduced strict measures for new admissions.
It comes as 17 care homes across the border in Shropshire confirmed positive cases of Covid-19.
“We have not taken any new admissions displaying symptoms of COVID-19 from any other home,” said a Barchester spokesperson, refuting claims that residents from other care homes with symptoms had been moved to The Rhallt.
“Any new admission that comes into the home will be screened for symptoms of COVID-19, and if appropriate to move in, will be asked to self-isolate for 14 days.
The spokesperson also allayed concerns that there may be shortages of staff at the home by adding: “We have no concerns over staffing at this time.”
Welshpool’s care home workers and carers have been carrying out incredible work throughout the crisis, and tonight at 8pm, the area will once again come out on their doorsteps to clap them and the many other key workers who continue to operate during these extraordinary times.
