Seasonal resurfacing work to begin

30/04/2020 @ 01:23

Powys County Council has promised to dispatch teams out and about from Monday to carry out essential seasonal roadwork.

Surface dressing, which involves spraying bitumen on the road and applying clean chippings (‘tar and chip), will be undertaken by contractors, RMS, on behalf of the council, and will take six-seven weeks.

“This process is a seasonal activity which can only be carried out between May and September,” explained Cllr Heulwen Hulme, Cabinet Member for Highways. “The roads being treated were identified last year and site preparations have already been completed. If these roads are not dressed, we run the risk of further deterioration which may result in additional repair work.

“All highways staff have been provided with the appropriate training and equipment to keep both themselves and the public safe whilst they work and Welsh Government social distancing guidelines will be followed.

“We would like to thank all our staff for their continued hard work at this time and the support and patience shown by our residents, thank you.”
