What a night!

Staying in was the new going out last night when collectively the Welshpool area raised over £2,000 and enjoyed some fantastic live music at the same time.

The Safe & Sound virtual music festival featured 11 acts from our very own area that could grace any stage, anywhere.

Each one played a blistering 20-minute set on Facebook Live from their own homes to over 2,000 viewers who either tuned in live or have since watched the recorded sets.

Organisers set a target of £500 to buy vital Personal Protection Equipment for local frontline workers, but it was soon apparent that it would be smashed as the money rolled in throughout the night.

And by the time the final set was played, Welshpool had dug deep to the tune of £2,110.

“I’m blown away,” said organiser Sallyann Rogers. “I can’t thank everyone enough. Dai Robs for helping to organise and pull the line-up together, the wonderful talent that performed, and of course all of the wonderful people that donated during these tough times.

“I hope the festival put a smile on a few faces and everyone enjoyed it. The money raised will certainly be put to good use.”
