Guilsfield Show cancelled

One of the area’s busiest agricultural shows has had to cancel for only the second time since 1968, due to Covid-19.

Guilsfield Show has evolved into a fun-filled day and night out with a music festival added onto the traditional events and competitions, and last year thousands made it a record breaking event.

But with Covid-19 restrictions set to continue and no end in sight, just yet, organisers have conceded defeat.

Matthew Kneale, Chair, said, “It is with a heavy heart, that the committee of Guilsfield Agricultural Show have no option but to cancel the 2020 show and all associated events held under our banner this year.

“The show is a volunteer-led event and is well supported by thousands of local visitors, members, sponsors, exhibitors and traders. Shows like ours provide a valuable social, economic and cultural event in the local area but the risks are too great to hold it this year.

“The show committee takes great pride in organising a high-quality and entertaining day and although we have discussed holding a different scale of event, the decision was that there are still too many unknown factors to make these feasible options at this time.

“From all of us at Guilsfield Agricultural Show, stay safe, take care of your loved ones and support your community, we look forward to welcoming you back on the August 12, 2021.”
