Three Welshpool care homes have received a helping hand from the Royal Oak Hotel.

The team, who run the popular hotel, eatery and coffee shop are currently on lockdown furlough, but General Manager, Chris Birdsell- Jones, delivered a selection of the hotel’s foods and drinks to the staff and residents at Llys Hafren, The Rhallt and Platinum Care homes plus other good causes.

“These items, comprising long life milk, crisps and nuts and a selection of drinks, including cranberry juice, will be reaching their sell by date next month so we are sure our local care homes will be able to make good use of them,” he said.

Chris said that several hundred pounds raised from their charity balance a penny on a lemon bar game had also been donated to local charities.

Kevin Charity, Chief Executive of the Boston-based Coaching Inn Group, who also have 16 other hotels and inns across the country, said making food donations was just one of the charity outreach activities being carried out by his furloughed hotel teams.

“We are all doing our utmost to make a positive difference by supporting NHS charities and other good causes during these troubling times,” he said.
