Eighth day of NO new Covid-19 cases

19/06/2020 @ 02:37

Public Health Wales has just announced the eighth day of NO new positive Covid-19 cases for the whole of Powys, with just one new case, back on June 11, recorded over the past 10 days.

The encouraging news shows that the county continues to heal from the global pandemic, but there is still a question mark over the data which doesn’t include those that have tested positive from home kit tests or the Government’s track and trace system.

We have asked Powys Teaching Health Board to help us track this data, but in the meantime residents will be feeling more optimistic about heading out to the shops and playing non-contact sport when the restrictions are eased from Monday in Wales.

As of 2pm today, Powys has recorded just 296 positive cases of Covid-19 since March 11 from 3,641 tests. That represents an 8.1% positive rate, compared to more than 30% from a month ago before testing was ramped up in the county.

Sadly, the Office of National Statistics have reported 89 deaths of Powys residents up to June 5. An increase of three from the previous week.

Today, the Welsh Government announced significant easing to the lockdown restrictions.
