Movie crew in town

Welshpool was a movie set for the day after a crew was spotted filming in the Town Hall on Saturday.

And we can reveal that a scene for the independent film Fred & Marv was being recorded in the former magistrates’ court on the first floor of the building.

Actor Martin Portlock, who is also listed as its writer and co-director, praised the setting with a post on Instagram last night and revealed that scenes were being shot for the new British comedy drama which will hopefully be released on BBC or Netflix in 2021.

On movie site IMDb, Fred & Marv is listed as being in pre-production and describes the plot as: “Fred and Marv struggle with life. They are thrown into a hurricane of fortune and punishment. With their new found friendship, they will come together to face the evil Mrs Hefler in a ridiculous battle for freedom.”

Maybe the film’s premiere could be screened in the Town Hall which, in recent years, has doubled up as a cinema for monthly movie nights?
