Tourist spots reopen to visitors

07/07/2020 @ 11:04

With the easing of lockdown restrictions this week, options for stretching our legs have increased but visitors are being warned to follow the new safety measures in place, or they could close again just as quickly.

Powis Castle garden and courtyard and the popular Deer Park will reopen this weekend, but Montgomery Castle (top) and Lake Vyrnwy (bottom) are among the locations to have opened up already.

However, we are still awaiting news on the full reopening of access to Rodney’s Pillar with the Save Rodney’s Pillar Group telling us: “The public footpaths have never been closed, it is only the permissive access from by the village hall that is closed by the owners and no update on when they intend to open it.”

CADW, who manage Montgomery Castle, said: “In order for us to keep this selection of sites open and safe for everyone, we are asking our visitors to help keep them safe by visiting respectfully and responsibly.”

Lake Vyrnwy reopened its car parks and toilets yesterday, and explained: “We’ve put measures in place to make sure our site is as safe as possible, so visits may feel a bit different to normal.”
