A number of pupils at Berriew Primary School have been instructed to stay at home after officials confirmed that “an individual” has tested positive for Covid-19.

Powys County Council said that the Test, Trace, Protect process has been activated and that “the school is directly in touch with parents to keep them informed”.

“We can confirm that an individual at Berriew Primary School has tested positive for COVID-19,” said a Powys County Council spokesperson.

“Schools follow the guidelines of testing and contract tracing carefully.

“It is important to remember that coronavirus has not gone away. We must all remain vigilant and continue to follow the advice around social distancing, washing hands, face coverings, self-isolation and testing.”

Earlier this week, dozens of pupils at Welshpool High School were told to remain at home following a positive case reported there.
