Pupils off school following positive test

Some pupils at Buttington Trewern CP School have been told to stay at home, following a positive Covid-19 test.

Powys County Council has not said which year is affected and only confirmed that an “individual” has tested positive. But the pupils will be back in school before the Christmas break, the school has confirmed.

“We have robust procedures in place and the Test, Trace, Protect process is being followed,” said a spokesperson. “The school is directly in touch with parents to keep them informed.

“Schools follow the guidelines of testing and contract tracing carefully.

“It is important to remember that coronavirus has not gone away. We must all remain vigilant and continue to follow the advice around social distancing, washing hands, face coverings, self-isolation and testing.”

Last week, Powys confirmed that its schools would remain open until the end of term next week, despite calls to finish early due to the risk of contracting and spreading Covid-19 in the run-up to Christmas.
