High schools closing for Christmas tomorrow

10/12/2020 @ 05:02

Montgomeryshire’s high schools will close for Christmas tomorrow, with learning moving online next week.

The move comes in a bid to protect thousands of families from the risk of having to self-isolate over the festive period should they contract or come into contact with someone who has Covid-19.

The Welsh Government announced tonight: “Secondary schools and colleges in Wales will move to online learning from Monday, December 14.

“This is part of a national effort to reduce coronavirus transmissions, and follows the latest scientific and medical advice.

“As it’s more difficult for primary and special school children to learn from home, we’re encouraging these schools to remain open until the end of term.

“This is not an early Christmas holiday and every effort should be made to minimise contacts, especially if you have plans to join a Christmas bubble.”
