Investigation continues into Woodside ‘explosion’

Police are still at the scene this morning of an explosion that has caused extensive damage to a property on Woodside in Welshpool.

The incident yesterday afternoon resulted in two people being taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries, and neighbours were evacuated to allow structural damage to be assessed. It is unclear whether they will be allowed to return to their homes today.

The area remains cordoned off with an unmarked police car in attendance to ensure the area is secure.

Initial investigations appear to be concentrating on a heating device in the dwelling’s living room, but no official confirmation has been provided.
