‘Business as usual’ at Town Council

19/02/2021 @ 09:17

Rumours circulating yesterday of some sort of an internal investigation at Welshpool Town Council have been dispelled by the Deputy Mayor, who said it was business as usual.

MyWelshpool followed up contact from a couple of reliable sources who claimed that an enquiry was ongoing after concerns were raised by staff.

But that’s not the case, according to Cllr Alison Davies, who clarified on behalf of the council that it was working “100% as normal”.

“The truth is that everyone is working extremely hard through these challenging times to get a tough job done,” said Cllr Davies, who explained that some staff were working from home due to current Covid-19 guidelines.

“The Town Council is going through an awful lot of challenges at the moment. We talk to our staff regularly and if there are concerns raised we do our best to sort them out. The welfare of our staff, and councillors, is very important.”

Welshpool Town Council’s next full meeting will be held via Zoom on Wednesday, with the public allowed to access by requesting the codes from the Town Clerk’s office (town.clerk@welshpooltowncouncil.gov.uk or 01938 553142).
