More than 100,000 Powys vaccines will have been injected by the end of the week, the local health board has confirmed.
The programme has been continuing full steam with people as young as 40 years old now being offered the chance to get the jab in the county through a reserve list to plug the gaps left by cancellations and no-shows.
An incredible 23,000 doses have been administered over the past two weeks with supplies hitting a peak, but a drop in UK vaccine supplies is expected during April.
As of last night, 71,000 people had received their first dose with a further 21,200 second doses being administered.
“Invitations have now been issued to everyone aged 55 and over,” said a spokesperson at Powys Teaching Health Board. “If you have not yet received your invitation then you can use our Priority Access Form to let us know, and our team will fast-track you to an appointment.
“Everyone aged 50-54 is being invited now, and you can join our reserve list to help us fill any cancellations. Everyone aged 40-49 can also join our secondary reserve list.
“This means that we are on schedule to offer everyone in Priority Groups 1 to 9 an appointment by the middle of April. This is Milestone 2 in the national vaccination strategy.”
While the focus will move to second doses through April, the health board said that it still remains on schedule to offer a vaccination to everyone aged 18 and over by the end of July.
