Welshpool Town Council is looking to bounce back from a dramatic few months by starting the process to fill the vacancies created by councillors resigning.
Due to a lack of interest in an election, the town council is going to ‘co-opt’ three new members to fill the spots.
There are three available places, but a fourth will also need to be filed in future following last week’s resignation of Town Mayor, Cllr David Senior, for ‘personal reasons’. Cllr Senior has still not commented on his sudden departure.
The vacancies are on the Llanerchyddol Ward (two) and Gungrog Ward with expressions of interest now being sought.
Candidates will have the opportunity to present their case to council as to why they should be chosen, before councillors themselves will pick those successful.
