Llanfair Caereinion’s town centre phone box will remain red, after a vote was held to ask residents whether it should be painted a different colour.
Councillors had expressed at recent town council meetings that the town needed a “spruce up” with suggestions that the kiosk in the high street could be a good place to start.
But residents overwhelmingly rejected the suggestion to paint it blue or grey, with 93.5% of the 106 people voting deciding to to keep it red. Seven people want it blue while no-one liked the green option.
“The Council will now progress to refurbish the telephone box as proposed in the original red colour,” said Town Clerk, Robert Robinson.
