After 18 months of Covid frustration, the Angel Voice Singing School (AVS) finally met in person and caught up by presenting last year’s Student-of-the-Year as well as charity funds raised.
The school celebrated its seventh birthday at the The Square and Compass in Cilcwydd, with students singing live after continuing to learn via Zoom.
Ethan Andrew Hardimans received his 2020 Student-of-the-Year accolade, having already taken advantage of his prize which was a year’s worth of one-to-one lessons over Zoom.
“It was an amazing occasion,” said Cathy Beech, Director and Vocal Coach of AVS. “The joy of hearing live music again was felt by everyone that was able to attend.
“Throughout the pandemic, these students have stayed strong and kept singing, helping them to be the best they could be during difficult times. As their vocal coach, I am very proud of all of them.”
During the event, the £320 raised from performing at Tesco before Christmas were presented to Ponthafren. Tesco Community Champion, Barbara Morris, is pictured next to Ethan who is presenting the cheque to Julia Jones from Ponthafren, watched by Cathy.
The nominees for 2021 Student-of-the-Year are Sally Green, Martin Durley and Claire Marie.
