The Smithfield Bell will reopen today following a positive Covid-19 case reported on Sunday, but there are concerns that the Track & Trace system is not as effective as it should be.
The pub expects to be back in business this lunch time following a deep clean, with team members who were in contact with the infected person self-isolating.
In a statement, the pub said: “Team members from fellow sites have been brought in temporarily to help reopen the pub. Could we politely remind you (of) the importance to provide your details when you visit pubs and restaurants and we ask for your cooperation with this.”
But concerns have emerged overnight that the Track & Trace system is not as effective as previously heralded, with a number of customers who were part of larger parties saying they have not been contacted.
One customer queried with the pub on social media: “There were six of us and only one has been contacted by Track & Trace. Just wondering what the point is in all customers needing to leave their personal details if they only contact the name who actually booked the table?”
Another said that they were exactly the same, with only one person from their party of six being contacted and told to isolate.
The system is run by Powys Teaching Health Board in co-ordination with Powys County Council and we have asked for a comment.
