Local farmers to grill EU Commissioner

27/06/2011 @ 01:04

Local farmers are being given a unique opportunity to interview the most influential man in EU agriculture, Commissioner Dacian Cioloș.

Over the next five weeks, members of NFU Cymru have the chance to submit questions on any area of farm policy.

Maeve Whyte, director of the NFU Cymru office in Brussels, said it was a coup to get the Commissioner in the hot seat.

“This will give our members exclusive access to the man in charge of EU agricultural policy. We will collect questions over the next five weeks. We will then select the best questions and use them to interview the Commissioner.

“Whether you want to find out about Commissioner Cioloș’ farm experience, his views on EID or how he expects to reform the CAP – it’s up to you. Your questions are also a chance to plant an idea in his head – which could be very timely given he is due to finalise his views on how the CAP should look after 2013 over the next few months.”

Questions can be emailed to: questiontime@nfu.org.uk or sent to: Question the Commissioner c/o Sarah Jones, NFU Cymru, Agriculture House, Royal Welsh Showground, Builth Wells, LD2 3TU.

The best question, chosen by Commissioner Cioloș, will win a luxury box of Belgian chocolates. The full interview will be published on NFU Cymru’s website in August.
