Plea to car share for historic Energy meeting

28/06/2011 @ 03:54

Organisers planning the mass demonstration at the Powys County Council meeting to discuss wind farms tomorrow (Wednesday) are urging protesters to car share.

History will be made when Powys holds its first full council meeting outside of Llandrindod Wells by assembling at the Welshpool Livestock Sales after it was revealed up to 2,000 campaigners could be present.

And with the car park full to bursting the last time 1,000 demonstrators held a protest rally there, the message is to arrive early and to share a car if possible.

The meeting will start at 2pm and is to be relayed live to the crowd outside via audio visual equipment. The car park will open up to two hours earlier to avoid a last minute bottleneck.

The meeting has been described to mywelshpool by a senior councillor as the most important in recent times with Powys’ support now vital to campaigners after the Welsh Government last week voted not to review the Tan 8 document which has given the green light for Mid Wales to be turned into a mass wind energy hub.
