The way Powys County Council delivers services is set to change and be re-prioritised as part of a significant plan that has been approved by councillors. More shared services and resources with opartner organisations are among the proposals.
The Powys Change Plan was approved by the full council yesterday during its special meeting at Welshpool Livestock Market where it was also considering a motion calling on the Welsh Government to review the Tan8 planning guidance and for a moratorium on windfarm application.
According to the council, the plan sets out key objectives that will shape how council services are delivered in the county over the next three years. Building on previous work, the 2011-2014 plan outlines the council's priorities and re-focuses on partnership working to deliver effective services.
Cllr Liam Fitzpatrick, Cabinet Member for Change, Communication and Performance, said: "The Powys Change Plan marks the latest stage of our journey to improve services and sets out our commitment to continuous improvement. By reviewing and prioritising our projects within this new plan, we aim to ensure that we and our partners are working towards the same goals and that we can achieve successful outcomes for the county."
He added: "Despite the economic challenges, we must be ambitious and see it as an opportunity not only to find new ways of doing things ourselves, but new ways of doing things with our partners. The services we deliver have a huge impact on residents so we will continue to put value for money and customer service at the heart of all we do."
