Bins disruption to continue

Powys County Council has conceded that the national driver shortage is going to be impacting their bin collection operation for the foreseeable future.

Yesterday, scores of bins in the Welshpool area were left uncollected and the problems look set to continue as the regional authority grapples with the shortage.

“Like most authorities, the current driver shortage is causing some issues which has meant that on occasions some rounds have had to be completed later in the week than the scheduled collection day,” said a spokesperson.

The advice is to leave the bins out if they are not picked up as it is intended that collections will catch up as the week continues.
