Welshpool will be upgrading as well as building new playground facilities for the town’s children, it has been confirmed.

The Maes-y-dre playground is currently undergoing a £45,000 refit and should be ready next week and councillors have approved a new swing for Dol y Felin at a cost of £7,500, £4,500 of which will be covered by Lottery Cash.

There is also provision for a £100,000 super facility as part of the expected Brookfield Road development in the future as well as a proposal for a playground to be developed on the Gungrog Ward.

Dol y Felin became the final playground in the town to come under the guardianship of Welshpool Town Council on April 1 this year.
