It appears that there will be more capacity created for allotments in the town with the current facility to also be tidied up and made available again to residents.
Currently, a small patch of land near Welshpool Hospital is all that the town council has to offer, but it has been left largely unkept following the lockdowns.
Two notices have appeared this week, one at the current site saying it will be tidied up and that plots could become available, and a second at a new location at Burgess Croft (pictured) saying new allotments will be made available soon and to get in touch.
Town Clerk, Anne Wilson, replied to a Facebook post this week: “Welshpool Town Council are getting quotes to totally clear the allotment site at the hospital and the area at Burgess Croft too to have them re-instated as allotments.
“If you would like an allotment I will happily add you to the existing waiting list dating back three years.
“Please email me at anne@welshpooltowncouncil.gov.uk if you would like your name to be added.”
