Town’s minute’s silence to mark two years since first lockdown

23/03/2022 @ 09:13

The Welshpool area is invited to participate in a minute’s silence today to mark two years since the first lockdown for Covid-19 on March 23, 2020.

As life thankfully returns to normal, the National Day of Reflection will enable residents to look back on the past couple of years and the devastation it has caused to so many of us.

The organised minute’s silence will be held outside the Town Hall at noon, led by representatives of Marie Curie with Rev Adam Pawley, Vicar of St Mary’s.

Afterwards there will be tea and biscuits in the Corn Exchange, and the Welshpool Guides and Brownies’ Wall of Reflection will be on display before it is moved back to the church. Visitors can also add to the wall.

Tonight at 7pm, St Mary’s is hosting a special service of Remembrance and Reflection with the visiting Berriew Church Choir.

Afterwards there will be refreshments and on leaving, attendees will be given a daffodil and a tealight to take home and ‘Shine a Light’ at 8pm as the nation remembers.  The church collection taken will go to Marie Curie.
