Local police welcome budget report

Dyfed Powys Police is coping well in the initial stages of streamlining its operations to meet tough budget cuts, according to a report.
 
A watchdog has carried out an inspection of all 43 forces and authorities in England and Wales, to assess how they will meet the new financial challenge and what impact it will make on its services, and locally our force confident.
 
Chief Constable Ian Arundale, said: "The feedback in the HMIC report is positive, which reflects the considerable amount of time the Force has spent ensuring it is ready to deal with the challenging financial situation.
 
“We have carefully developed a strategy incorporating an ambitious change programme to deliver the necessary reduced costs over the next four years. Our priority has always been to protect our communities and we will do everything we can to keep our communities safe and maintain frontline policing services."
 
Chair of Police Authority Delyth Humfryes, said: “We welcome the report from HMIC which highlights that the Force and Police Authority have a clear vision and plan to address the financial challenges. We are committed to ensuring that our communities continue to receive the best possible policing service.”
