He’s at it again!

Welshpool adventurer Andrew Paddison has announced a new charity challenge, starting at the end of the month.

Andrew is a Thalidomider who was born with two short arms and one leg but it hasn’t stopped him raising thousands of pounds by taking on inspirational challenges on his adapted handbike.

In the last three years, Andrew and his team have raised over £43,000 for charitable causes. They completed 1,000 miles from Lands End to John O’Groats in 2019, completed a 500-mile trip around the Scottish Highlands in 2020 and last year hand cycled an incredible 1,000 miles through some of Scotland’s most challenging countryside across to the west coast, up to Skye and then back across to the east and through the Cairngorms.

But it seems he has plenty of more miles in the tank and, this time, he is going international, announcing this morning a fresh challenge on the other side of the Irish Sea.

“On the 29^th of May, Team Paddison will attempt to handcycle around the island of Ireland, 1,300 miles in 13 days in aid of Women’s Aid,” he teased this morning on his Twitter account before revealing that “more details will follow”.

Andrew’s efforts were recognised last year when he was guest of honour at the Installation Dinner of the new Master of the Company of Wheelwrights at Drapers Hall in the City of London.
