Concert to mark VE Day

Celebrating all those from the Welshpool area who did ‘their bit’ for King and country during World War 2 is the theme behind a Victory in Europe Day concert at the Methodist Church, High Street, Welshpool tomorrow (Friday) from 7.15pm.

Entertainment will be provided by the RAF Shawbury Military Wives choir, Porthywaen Band, singers Maggie O’Hara and Philip Evans and the evening will be hosted by Alan Crowe ‘Ala Cra’.

Concert goers will have the chance to remember a family member that took part in the war by filling in a special dedication card which will be read out during the concert.

Organisers hope that those attending will wear family medals where appropriate and any ex-service personnel will wear regimental ties and blazers along with their medals of service.

Tickets are £10 each available from Welshpool Jewellers, Methodist Church, Alexanders or pay on the door. Light refreshments served at half time plus a raffle.
