Railway supporters group talks return tonight

24/05/2022 @ 04:42

For the first time since the start of the pandemic, the Welshpool Area Group of supporters of the Welshpool and Llanfair Railway (pictured), will resume its programme of illustrated talks with one by local industrial archaeologist, Tony Beardsall, in the Catholic Church Hall tonight (Tuesday) at 7.30pm.

Part One of Tony’s talk features quarries, mines, inclines, bridges and dams, all in Mid or North Wales, and all fairly easily accessible.

Then, from Industrial Archaeology, the focus will switch in Part Two. This will follow the transition from the early horse tramways which served many of these sites, to steam-hauled freight or mixed traffic railways and eventually in some instances to the Great Little Trains of today.

Members and non-members are welcome to attend. A small admission charge (£5) will be made to cover costs. Light refreshments are available.
