WI to plant Jubilee tree

Welshpool Women’s Institute will plant an apple tree this Friday to mark the Queen’s 70 years on the throne.

Members will be meeting at 11.45am at Dolyfelin to plant the tree that has been provided by new member, Vivianne Ancliff, who has grown it herself. Lunch will follow at The Raven at 12.30pm.

Meanwhile, the group met in May when Hannah Shuker, Community Safety Assistant from Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service, gave an informative talk and slide show about the variety of jobs the Fire Service attend and also the preventative measures that can be taken in our own homes.

Hannah also highlighted the Safe and Well visits for Prevention, Detection and Escape that are available to all with members asking a number of questions.
