Town council HQ switch still in the plans

The long-awaited town council move to the Tourist Information Centre (TIC) will not be happening any time soon, according to the town clerk who provided a timely update last night.

A tender has gone out to reconfigure the TIC so that it will incorporate the town council headquarters, which are currently based in Triangle House off the back road.

At the time it was announced, it caused controversy with the Wrights taxi office, who were tenants in the building, being asked to make way for the new development.

But Anne Wilson has provided a welcome update which also sheds light on what will be happening.

"The main TIC bit will remain the same, but with a shared main desk,” she told us.

“The offices will be in the left-hand end, as you look at it from the road, including the old taxi office and the gents will also be included into the offices.

“The ladies will be upgraded into ladies and gents with baby changing and there will be a changing spaces room too.”
