Town declares war on ‘8 year-old’ terrors

Kids as young as eight went on an astonishing vandalism spree at Maesydre Recreation Ground and were eventually caught while allegedly trying to hotwire a digger!

The shocking incident was raised at this week’s full Town Council meeting as an emergency item after the trail of destruction was discovered on Wednesday morning by the groundsman who caught two of the kids trying to hotwire the digger as well as attempting to break into the rugby club.

Shocked councillors backed the proposal for strong measures to be taken with the police contacted and an allowance for new CCTV cameras to be erected at the targeted area.

“I am disappointed that yet again the council is active in providing facilities which are not respected by the few mindless people on this planet,” said town clerk Robert Robinson. “The council has resolved that anyone caught causing damage will be prosecuted, as was the last vandal caught who now has a criminal record.”

The yobs set fire to one of the new swings at the playground which was only opened earlier this month at a cost of £45,000. A knife appears to have been used to damage the disabled swing while bins in the grandstand were set on fire. A road sign was completely uprooted and dumped on the cricket pitch while glass and litter was spread over a huge area of grass.

“It is believed that one of the kids was as young as eight!” revealed Mr Robinson who added that all details of the apprehended had been handed to the Police.
