A two-day crime blitz between Powys and six other police forces has resulted in 30 arrests from drug possession to diesel theft.
The latest in a series of cross border operations aimed to prevent criminals having use of local roads was hailed as a success and saw local officers work with colleagues from Carmarthenshire, South Wales, Gwent, West Mercia and for the first time Gloucestershire.
“This cross border working relationship continues to grow and is a fantastic opportunity to deny the criminals the use of the roads in the region,” said the operation coordinator Sergeant Owen Dillon. “And it’s also a chance for the various forces to work together on one dedicated radio channel to share experience, knowledge and tactics and therefore improve interoperability. Work is now underway on planning the next operation in December and this will involve six forces.”
The latest operation was controlled from the Dyfed-Powys operations room on a dedicated channel.
The Dyfed-Powys results:
Cannabis Warnings – 8
Section 165 Roads Traffic Act vehicle seizures – 5
Red diesel offences – 4
Fixed penalty notices – 12
Report for summons – 7
Class A drug arrests – 2
