It may be October, but water provider Severn Trent issued a water warning for users over the weekend to not waste it on watering gardens.
Rain is expected to be on the way later this week, but the extended dry summer has continued to cause concern for Severn Trent who issued the following warning.
“As we have all seen this week, the hot dry weather is continuing into the autumn with Thursday being the hottest September 29 since 1895. We look set for a fabulous weekend and at Severn Trent Water we are still keeping an eye on the weather and the water resources situation. Thanks to our customers using water wisely over the summer, and the actions that we took to conserve supplies, we successfully managed to avoid any water usage restrictions this year, and we can confirm that there will also be no need for restrictions throughout the autumn and winter periods.
“However, we do need to look forward to next year and do everything that we can to make sure that we secure supplies for our customers. With this in mind, we would just like to ask that people think about their water usage and not waste water unnecessarily. Remember, lawns and shrubs are hardy and won’t need watering just because of a few days of hot weather.”
