Street Champions get to work

 

The scheme, revealed by mywelshpool last year, encourages residents to step forward and carry out a warden-like volunteer role in the communities where they live.

 

And among the first recruits, the youth centre has agreed to keep an eye on the Howells Drive area of the town.

 

“Another four or five people have come forward so it is coming together,” said Town Clerk Robert Robinson.

 

The Street Champion will be a point of contact for local residents to relay any problems to the town and Powys councils and also try to clamp down on anti-social behaviour by linking with other authorities like the police.
