Council staff struck by online scammers

 

 

Members of staff have received authentic looking emails asking them to ‘re-activate a bank account’, before requesting personal details to be filled in online. The message is apparently very convincing, and uses genuine links to real banks.

 

Francesca Jump, Lib Dem Councillor for Gungrog Ward warned: “It is really important to be aware of just how sophisticated some of these scams can be. Local residents must take extra care, and should avoid entering personal details online where there is even the slightest doubt.”
