The headteacher of Ardwyn Nursery and Infants School in Welshpool has been dismissed from her post, Powys County Council has confirmed this morning.

Mrs Eirios Hall has been dismissed following formal disciplinary and appeal processes after originally being suspended in February of last year following an allegation which has not been disclosed.

In July, a panel recommended Mrs Hall be dismissed but it was taken to an appeal and the results were released to parents last night.

Cllr Stephen Hayes, Cabinet Member for Learning and Leisure, said “I can confirm that Mrs Eirios Hall has been dismissed from her post as headteacher of Ardwyn Nursery and Infants School.  Parents have been informed of this decision by letter.

“The existing acting head teacher, Mrs Yvonne Naylor, will continue to lead the day to day management of the school.  No further statements will be given on this matter.”

One parent told us: "Many parents are not very happy at all with the handling of this enquiry and are asking 'what now?'."
