Chains renovation will run into four figures

The bill to repair and refurbish Welshpool’s chains of office will run into four figures after the all-clear was given to start work on the first.
The town council has approved £750 to refurbish the Deputy Mayor’s Chain with the Mayor and Consort’s chains also requiring a spruce up.
Councillors agreed that work was necessary to upgrade a part of the town’s history after it was revealed that names were missing and repairs were required. Four more links will also be added to the Deputy Mayor’s.
