Powys chairman’s dyslexia admission

21/10/2011 @ 02:12

The Chairman of Powys County Council, Clly Barry Thomas, knows all about dyslexia having had the condition all of his life.

And now he has decided to use his year in office to raise awareness locally by launching a roadshow which will reach Welshpool next month.

Powys County Council has teamed up with Coleg Powys to host the event in Welshpool on Monday, November 21, at the Corn Exchange.

Cllr Barry Thomas explained: “I have had dyslexia all my life and I want to try and remove the stigma around it. In reality, dyslexia is very common and affects around 1 in 10 of us. But it doesn’t have to be a limitation, and like many people, I have found ways of coping with the condition. I extend a warm invitation for people to attend the roadshows to find out more about dyslexia.”

The dyslexia information roadshow take place between 9.30am-4pm. Cllr Thomas is also raising funds for a dyslexia charity through a series of other events.
