Welshpool’s free fireworks bonanza

25/10/2011 @ 04:18

Fireworks will be flying on bonfire night after Welshpool Town Council revealed plans for an extravaganza next week.

While some louts must have thought it was November 5 last night by setting off fireworks on the main street, the sensible part of the town has a big night to look forward to at Maesydre which will also be lit up by the lights from the football and rugby clubs.

Gates will be open at 6pm by the canal path only with the first firework scheduled for 7pm.

There will also be a bouncy castle, “Paddy the Frog” entertainer, candy floss and sweets along with hot drinks and a Hog Roast. Other charity and community groups will have stalls including Open Door Family Centre, Guilsfield Young Farmers and Animal Welfare. Pitches are still available by contacting the Town Clerk’s Office on 01938 553142 or wtcouncil@btinternet.com

Entry is free, but a collection will be made for anyone wishing to make a donation towards the evening’s costs.
