Former members of the Armed Forces will be given free use of council-run leisure facilities in Powys.
Ex-servicemen and women that have been discharged due to injury or on medical terms will be able to apply for free gym and swim sessions, thanks to a new scheme introduced by Powys County Council.
The council has worked with The Royal British Legion to introduce the scheme. It will be available at all council-run sports and leisure centres.
Councillor Stephen Hayes, Powys County Council's Cabinet Member for Leisure and Learning, said: "Powys has a proud and strong connection with the forces and we are delighted to introduce this at a time when service men and women are foremost in our thoughts during remembrance weekend.
"We are committed to promoting and enabling people in Powys to be more active, more often for the benefit of their health and well being. We hope this scheme will aid ex-servicemen and women in their rehabilitation and go some way to show our appreciation to them."
Speaking at the launch, Mr David Davies, President of the Crossgates & District Branch of The Royal British Legion and Vice-President of the Bi-Counties British Legion, said: "We appreciate that we are in Powys' thoughts and it is great to know this is on offer. Not only for current ex-servicemen, but for those in the future."
