What are pylon protesters up to?

Campaigners opposed to mass windfarm development in Montgomeryshire are planning a PR spectacular on Thursday to remind politicians and the energy giants that “we haven’t gone away”.

Following two quiet months, mywelshpool understands that Montgomeryshire Against Pylons (MAP) is planning a high profile stunt on Thursday, and it could be in the Welsh capital.

While keeping her cards close to her chest, lead campaigner Myfanwy Alexander said they are appealing for anyone with a free day on Thursday that owns a Land Rover or a trailor to get in touch.

Campaigners are worried that the companies planning to build hundreds of wind turbines on pristine hill tops and a pylon channel through one of two valleys across the border via a 20-acre substation could try and break the news over the hectic Festive Period with residents pre-occupied.

“We want to make sure that the Welsh Government and the energy companies know that we are still here and we are still opposed to any development,” said Myfanwy. “There are rumours that a decision has already been made as to which route will be chosen for the pylons but we will continue our fight.”

Myfanwy said details of Thursday’s stunt will be broken through the MAP Facebook Group and anyone available to help should contact them through Facebook.
