‘Why are we waiting?’

There’s some good news for residents who have started to ask when one of the longest standing road works in Welshpool Town Centre will be finally sorted.

Barriers have been plonked on the road outside Welshpool Library for three months, blocking a lane on the one-way system close to the zebra crossing.

And it has led to several residents believing it had simply been forgotten about with one asking us: “could someone please tell us what is going on?”

But Powys County Council has confirmed this morning that it is on its scope of work.

A spokesperson said: “Part of the culvert at Brook Street was damaged and barriers were put in place to prevent further damage. Work will start imminently and, weather permitting, should take approximately a week to complete.”
