Father’s appeal over hit and run death

16/12/2011 @ 04:44

The devastated father of Dale McNamee has said that his family had been devestated following the former Welshpool man’s death in a hit-and-run in Shrewsbury three weeks ago.

Clive McNamee today issued an emotional plea for information to coincide with police releasing the last known image of the 36-year old alive (right).

Father of three Dale, who worked as a security guard and was living in Harmer Hill, near Shrewsbury, was killed instantly after he was struck by a mystery vehicle in Venus Bank which is on the A458 between Cound and Cross Houses, near Shrewsbury, on November 26.

And at a press conference at Monkmoor Police Station this morning (Friday), his father, who is the manager of Montgomery Town Football Club, said: “This tragic accident has caused devastation in the family.

“The older members in the family will come to terms with it but his three young sons are struggling. I hope the driver will come forward in order to bring closure to us.

“Dale was a fun-loving 36-year-old. He had a wide circle of friends and a wonderful work ethic. I would urge members of the public to come forward.”

Since Dale’s death police have been trying to trace a white box van seen travelling towards the scene shortly before he was found. Detective Inspector Steve Tonks urged the driver to come forward.

He also said skid marks were found on the road, suggesting whoever was driving the vehicle which hit Dale (below) would know what had happened.

Mr Tonks also released a brief video from CCTV at the Hole in the Wall pub in Shrewsbury, at about 10pm on November 25 which showed Dale entering the building, just hours before he died.

Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
