Christmas and New Year recycling collections

20/12/2011 @ 05:10

The countdown to Christmas has started and Powys County Council is encouraging people to continue to reduce their household rubbish as much as possible over the festive period.

There will be some changes to recycling and waste collections over the Christmas period as follows:

Week beginning December 26:

Usual collection date - Christmas collection date

Monday 26 December - Tuesday 27 December

Tuesday 27 December - Wednesday 28 December

Wednesday 28 December - Thursday 29 December

Thursday 29 December - Friday 30 December

Friday 30 December - Saturday 31 December

Week beginning January 2 2012:

All recycling and waste kerbside collections will return to the normal day.

In areas where kerbside recycling collections have been introduced and wheeled bins are emptied (or purple sacks are collected) every two weeks, the week will not change.

If you normally have wheeled bins emptied (or purple sacks collected) between December 26 and December 30, they will be emptied/collected one day later than usual (see above).

If you would not normally have your wheeled bins emptied between December 26 and December 30, it will be emptied on your usual day the following week (the same applies for purple sacks).

“Christmas can be a busy time for people, but that doesn’t mean recycling has to take a back seat,” said Councillor Ken Harris, executive member for recycling and waste. “It’s still important that we send as little rubbish as possible to landfill.”
